Laila is currently a central pillar of the Hum TV blockbuster Humrahi. Starring alongside veterans like Shahzad Nawaz, she plays a sophisticated matriarch whose character balances traditional values with a progressive outlook. Her performance is frequently cited for its "understated power." Active 2026 Status: Simultaneously, she is part of the 2026 hit Zanjeerein (Hum TV). In March 2026, she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at a prestigious Karachi arts gala, celebrating her journey from a 90s ingenue to a contemporary powerhouse. The "Phoenix" Return (2010s–2020s): After a long break while living in the United States, Laila’s return to Pakistani television was marked by high-quality scripts. Her roles in Dunk (2020), Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay (2021), and Ishq-e-Laa (2021) showed that she had lost none of her signature poise. Legacy & PTV Roots: As the daughter of legends Rizwan Wasti and Tahira Wasti, acting is in her DNA. She first rose to fame in the 90s with PTV classics like Aiteraaf and later appeared in the sequel Tanhaiyaan Naye Silsilay (2012), bridging the gap between two generations of viewers. Versatility in "Jafaa" & "Gentleman": In 2024, Laila delivered standout performances in the star-studded Jafaa (Hum TV) and the Green Entertainment epic Gentleman. She has mastered the art of playing "the moral compass" in complex domestic narratives.
