Syed Mohammad Ahmed

Syed Mohammad Ahmed is currently starring as Saif in the 2026 Green TV Entertainment mega-hit Maa (which premiered on January 16, 2026). He is also featured in the new Mehreen Jabbar directorial Doctor Bahu. In April 2026, he became a subject of viral discussion for his candid social media advocacy regarding the treatment of supporting actors, whom he famously termed "children of a lesser god". The "M Trio" & Screenwriting Legacy: In the 1990s and 2000s, he was primarily known as a powerhouse writer and director, often collaborating with Mehreen Jabbar and Marina Khan (forming the "M Trio"). His scripts for Mystery Theater, Tum Se Kehna Tha (1995), and the Baraat Series (Azar Ki Ayegi Baraat) redefined urban comedy in Pakistan. He also wrote dialogue for the Bollywood hit Tere Bin Laden (2010). Acting Renaissance (2018–Present): While he acted in the 80s, his "second coming" as a performer began with the critically acclaimed film Cake (2018). This led to a string of iconic roles, most notably Agha Jaan in the global blockbuster Suno Chanda (2018/2019) and the strict yet loving father figures in Mere Paas Tum Ho (2019), Sabaat (2020), and Parizaad (2021). Recent Masterpieces (2024–2025): 2025 was a prolific year with roles in Judwaa (as Nana Mia) and Ek Jhooti Kahani (as Habib Sahab). In 2024, he delivered a soul-stirring performance as Naamdar Mirza in Sunn Mere Dil and Alam in Radd. He also returned to writing with the Ramadan hit Very Filmy (2024). Philosophy & Impact: Born on March 8, 1957, in Karachi, Ahmed is known for his "simple yet layered" storytelling. He is famously selective about his writing, refusing to pen "crying women" or "toxic mother-in-law" tropes, which he believes have stagnated the industry.
