Zainab Qayoom

Zainab is currently playing the sophisticated yet manipulative Begum Salma in the 2026 Hum TV mega-hit Zanjeerein. She also recently appeared in the 2025 ARY Digital drama Silsila and the Green Entertainment series Gentleman (2024–2025). In March 2026, she was featured in an "Icons of Style" editorial, celebrating her longevity and her transition from the runway to prime-time television. The "Supermodel" Era (1990s–2000s): Before acting, Zainab was arguably the most famous face in Pakistani fashion. She was crowned Model of the Year at the Lux Style Awards in 2004 and was the face of every major brand from Khaadi to HSY. Her height, poise, and distinct features redefined the Pakistani runway during the "Golden Age" of fashion. Hosting & "Maachis": Zainab became a household name beyond fashion through her bold hosting. Her talk show Maachis was a cultural phenomenon in the mid-2000s, known for its unfiltered look at social issues and domestic disputes. She remains one of the few hosts who could balance entertainment with serious social discourse. Television Mastery (2010–Present): Her transition to acting was seamless. She avoided the "glamour-only" trap and focused on complex character roles. Notable performances include Mohabbat Ab Nahi Hogi (2014), Yaqeen Ka Safar (2017), Aangan (2018), and the blockbuster Kaisa Hai Naseeban (2019). She is frequently cast as the "graceful mother" or "strong-willed matriarch" who holds the plot together. Recent 2024–2025 Success: In 2024, she delivered a chilling performance in the thriller Jafaa and starred in the Geo TV hit Umm-e-Ayesha. Her ability to work across all major networks (Hum, ARY, Geo, and Green) makes her one of the industry's most consistent "Bridge Actors". Background: Born in Karachi, Zainab holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from Kinnaird College, Lahore. She is known for her intellect, her love for literature, and her reputation as one of the most professional and well-spoken members of the fraternity.
