Saima Noor

Saima is currently starring as the formidable matriarch Bibi Jaan in the 2026 Hum TV mega-hit Zanjeerein. She also recently delivered a standout performance in the 2025 ARY Digital social drama Silsila. In March 2026, she was honored at the Pakistan International Screen Awards (PISA) with a "Global Icon of Cinema" award for her contribution to over 300 films. The Lollywood Reign (1990s–2000s): Saima was the face of Pakistani cinema for two decades. Her breakthrough came with the 1990 film Khatarnaak, but her career reached legendary status with the 1998 blockbuster Choorian, directed by Syed Noor. Choorian remains one of the highest-grossing films in Pakistan's history. Her pairing with Shaan Shahid defined an entire era of the Punjabi film industry. The Television Transition (2010s): Unlike many of her cinematic peers, Saima successfully pivoted to the small screen. Her television debut in Kaneez (2014) was a massive success. She followed this with nuanced performances in Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai (2017) and Rang Laaga, where she proved she could handle suburban, domestic narratives just as effectively as high-drama cinematic spectacles. Modern Masterpieces (2021–2024): In recent years, Saima has become the go-to actress for roles requiring gravitas and emotional depth. Her role as Zubeida in Jafaa (2024) and her appearance in the Green Entertainment hit Gentleman (2024) showed her ability to anchor large ensemble casts and work alongside the "New Age" stars of Pakistani TV. Background & Personal Life: Born on May 5, 1967, in Multan, Saima's journey is one of immense hard work. She married the renowned director Syed Noor in 2005 (though they kept it private for several years). She is known for her humility and her role as a mentor to young actresses, often advocating for better scripts for women of all ages.
